Frequently asked questions
How can you help?
I will help you by listening, really listening. My sessions are informative, I will help you understand why you may be feeling the way you are. I will teach you ways to overcome those feelings using the latest psychotherapeutic tools and techniques. I have different techniques that help overcome anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, stress and trauma.
How do I book a session?
It is best to email me at hello@giovannapumacounselling.co.uk or WhatsApp me at 07498 717297. You can call me, but I may be in a session and unable to pick up. I usually respond to an email, text or call the same day. Once I receive your email or WhatsApp, I will arrange a 10-20 minute free telephone call. In the call, I can answer any questions you may have, find out more about the help you need and book our first session.
What can I expect from our first session?
Everyone is different, and your emotional needs guide me. I listen to what is happening in your life and how you would like that to change. By asking sensitive questions, I will help you clarify why you may feel like you do. Some people are nervous about starting therapy. There is nothing to worry about - my approach is really calming, gentle, and positive. My aim is to help you feel better from the very first session.
How long are the sessions?
The sessions are about 60 minutes.
How much are the sessions and how do I pay
My sessions are £65 per session. Payment can be made by card or bank transfer after your appointment. If you need to change or cancel your appointment, please give as much notice as you can. Sessions can be cancelled up to 24 hours in advance without payment.
Where do you work?
I work over Zoom, WhatsApp Video or via telephone. I also see people in person, in the summer I work from my garden room and in winter I work from my therapy room in the house. My therapy room is in New Barnet, North London a seven-minute walk from New Barnet overground station, a 20-minute walk from Cockfosters tube station or a five-minute walk from five different bus routes.
What times do you work?
I work Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm (my last therapy session is at 5 pm)
Where can I park?
There is free parking outside the property.
Do you just work with adults?
I work with adults and children from 10 years old. I have a DBS enhanced certificate to work with children.
How long do I need to see you?
I strive to help people in as few sessions as possible.
Is there anything else I should know?
I have a therapy cat called Mimosa. She may walk into the therapy room and sit by your feet. She never jumps up at you or tries to sit on your lap. She will only come into the therapy room if she senses you’re a cat lover. Also, if you are allergic or don’t like cats, I keep the door of my therapy room closed.
